26 Weeks and Making Some Progress on the Nursery

Brian really got going on the nursery this weekend - It feels good to make some progress! We decided to install wall paneling and the pictures above are of Brian hard at work (he's now painting as I type this so we aren't quite finished). He also took down the original light fixture/ceiling fan and hung our new pendant last weekend. The walls in the nursery were already blue when we bought the house and I'm sure Brian is hoping that this color blue will work with our crib bedding. ;) Speaking of, we ordered new crib bedding and window treatments this week ... so slowly but surely the nursery is starting to come together. YAY!

While Brian was busy working on the nursery Saturday morning, I went to brunch with my "brunch bunch," which is just a group of girls in Greenville that are all currently expecting. Out of the girls that know what they are having, we are pretty much the only one's (or we could be the only one ... I can't quite remember) expecting a baby boy. He's going to be one lucky lil' fellow with all those cute girls running around!!!

We also received our certification in Adult/Child/Infant CPR on Thursday. I think we are both really glad we decided to take the class and pray that we never have to use any of the information we learned. And, I have my Glucola Tolerance Test next Thursday to test for gestational diabetes.

Baby D, at 26 weeks, weighs approximately 2 lbs and measures in at about 9 inches long (according to the books) . I can't believe that I'll soon be into my THIRD TRIMESTER!!!

I just returned from a fun weekend in Charleston! Catherine and I drove down on Friday afternoon and had dinner at the Boathouse on Sullivans/Isle of Palms with Lee, Blakley and Rebekah. We threw a baby shower for Evelyn on Saturday at Leslie's beach house - baby McClain got so many cute things and Evelyn looks great!!! We were able to relax after the shower and then went to dinner to celebrate Blakley's 30th birthday at Halls Chophouse on King Street. I am now getting some much needed rest ...

24 Weeks

Hi!

I had my 24 week appointment today (regular checkup on my weight, blood pressure, measuring my belly, listening to Baby D's heartbeat - which was 150 today, etc.) and he's just perfect! I'm feeling really great too and the doctors are still very happy with my weight and blood pressure. The books say he is a little over a pound (about 1 1/2 lbs) and about 8 1/2 inches long.

My next appointment is February 4th and I'll be taking the Glucola Tolerance Test - a screening for gestational diabetes. They sent me home with a document on how to prepare for the test, such as limiting my sugar and carbohydrates intake the day before and the day of my test (no fruits, cereal and desserts which is what I eat the most of ... this could be interesting).

I'm getting up at least once (sometimes twice) throughout the night and I think it must be one of his favorite times of the day to squirm around - he's a little monkey! I feel him a lot throughout the day as well - its just the best feeling! I suppose he still has enough space in there for now because I'm pretty sure he has been doing some somersaults too!

Brian and I have also registered for our educational classes (caring for your baby, breastfeeding, etc.) which we'll be taking in February and March. We are also taking an Infant and Child CPR class that is offered by Highlands (my OB) on January 21st.

We have purchased a crib and ordered bedding so we are starting to make some progress on the nursery. We still need to move out the guest bed and other furniture that we currently have in there so that Brian can start painting, etc. :)

They are calling for a dusting of snow tonight in Greenville ... its been FREEZING all week and I'm really ready for the weather to warm up, even just a little bit.
